 my mother in 1966school is still not in session and i am not sure what to do with myself just yet. i spend my days drinking coffee in bed, reading and trying to teach myself how to paint. so far i'm not doing too well coming up with original compositions, so i decided to use an add i found from the 1940s. here is what i have so far,  i spent a few weeks back home in san diego but ended up with only one picture my uncle took of my cousin and me at the swap meat,  i bought a swan pendant there and turned it into a necklace!  i did a good amount of estate sailing withg lyric andmanaged to get ton's of goodies like this tiger,  and then i made a wall display with some of my findings, Claudine looks so creepy.  the weather in sf has been so amazing lately. yeasterday jhase, molly and myself spent all day lounging in the sunshine ontop of Deadman's Point at Lands End.  we ate brie with cranberries and drank bloodorange mimosa's...so wonderful. i'll be working on more art soon, and i bought a dozen old lockets that i will paint portraits in and give as gifts!  send me pictures of your artwork! |

      my cousin Marina sent me her dad's famous vegetarian tamale recipe and Jhase and i decided to give it a try. we spent the last of our money on supplies and ended up making over two dozen cheesy tamales .... but now i am 100% sick of them and i am willing to trade for other food and/or money. help us eat them!!! |

 things aren't going so good here. jhase is still out of work and we are both poor and hungry, surviving off thanksgiving leftovers. i had to move out of my art studio on sunday because i can no longer pay for it. i'm actually okay working from home, i just feel a little cramped here. at least i'm making art again... at our family thanksgiving my dad and uncle played a dozen old folk songs and it was amazing. it was the cutest performance i had ever seen and i was really proud of them. i miss my family a lot these days and i have been thinking of moving back home, but jhase loves it here and so do i... i had to walk home three miles today because i couldn't spend my milk money on the bus. oh well, now i have a carton of half & half and i officially hate the hills of sf. anyone want to write me a letter?

  i made this necklace out of a vintage 60's napkin of Victorian flats and psychedelic flowers, a small antique picture frame and a very sturdy chain. |

 jhase came home last night with a pair of $400 shoes for me that his pal wrote off, so they were free! it's so sweet he knows my size and what i like. this afternoon i made a drawing of a pocket watch headed female riding a religious rocket and then i sewed it onto some canvas. it took about four hours and tomorrow i'll paint it all pretty.  here's my cheap-o beep-o sewing machine that i use to make my artwork.  i sew on top of the paper following the lines of my illustration and then i turn it over and...  i am working on sewing 5 panels similar to this one and the one of two girls i posted before. mainly about sex and religion, two of my favorite topics.

 the wall installation jhase and i made took almost 4 hours just to hang. the banners read "you are the one for me".  open studios was way too fun and i wore a marching band outfit for no good reason...   my journal cover made from printing ginkgo leaves with my mom.  a very dirty collage i made on accident.  my home sweet home felt tote bag i made.  sewing drawing, that i turned into this:  "i don't need protection"  i'm teaching myself how to paint again!  here's jhase and me as one face. so much has been going on here... i'm working on art everyday and trying to be a better girlfriend to jhase. |

   Open Studios is coming up and I couldn't be anymore excited. My mom is coming up that weekend too, that makes me happy. Jhase and I are struggling to get projects finished, but with me going to school and him working, we're just so tired. i'm off to kinkos to make a mock up of our NM zine. |

 i'm really into making banners and putting them all over our apartment.  This is out pet fawn i found a few blocks from our house. he's the closest thing we have to a puppy. |

 so i've been working on this piece to show in the gallery during Open Studios. i wanted it to be a mixture of everything i love painting, drawing, collage, and sewing. i hope i finish it before i leave on the 26th... i'm not sure where to go from here, but i'll just keep working on it till i figure it out.  and here is my messy messy desk!  |
